"Where's my hood?" she asks.

With my daughter's school year underway, and the chill in the air beckoning for winter, I whipped up this little number with a bulky yarn using size 10.5 circular needles.  Just in the nick of time too, as one day when I dropped my kid off at school, she wanted to know why she didn't have a hood.  Indeed, the coat she wore that day had no hood.  Luckily I put a hood on the poncho.  This piece was made in one piece, starting with the hood.  I laid the cable so that when I grafted the top of the hood together, the cable would frame the face.  Around, and around, adding increases for the body, I kept the cable going down the center.  The cast off I used was the picot bind-off, which gives the poncho it's flare, and funky edge.
